Valentine card
Publisher: Unknown
White embossed lace-paper mounted at the centre with a collage of two mock envelopes - one blue and one yellow, the flaps marked in pink ink, the blue envelope bearing a silver stud 'seal' - a small, lithographed paper ink well and a 'valentine' of pink lace-paper with a silver paper dove and hand-written title in blue ink on the front: 'A Kiss not to tell'. Inside is a handwritten message: 'I / love you'. The writing materials are arranged over a collage of cut-paper, hand-coloured flowers, tulips and forget-me-nots with additional stencilling of leaves. The front paper is adhered to the back paper. Although a maker's stamp cannot be seen, this valentine is almost certainly by Henry Dobbs. A triangular flap from an envelope and a chromolithographed garland of pink roses are affixed onto the album leaf below as though they are related to P.14418-R-58.
