Description

A valentine of white lace-paper with a pale pink slip paper. A smaller layer of gilt embossed paper with seashell/grotto motifs is mounted on paper springs at the centre and an oval window frames a collage of cut-paper and hand-coloured flowers and foliage. A cut-paper, hand-coloured bird in flight is mounted above. At upper centre is a collage of cut-paper and hand-coloured flowers, some with gilt centres. A large paper scroll with gilt lithographed detail and verse in red ink is mounted at lower centre: ''Tis not to seasons I confine / Affection most sincere / The tribute of my heart is thine / Throughout the rolling year'. KERSHAW & SON is stamped along the spine at centre left. The interior is blank.
