Description

A valentine of white lace-paper with moveable doves. A pair of large, cut-paper lithographed and hand-coloured doves at the centre are attached to a length of blue cord threaded through the back of the card to enable manipulation. A handwritten title in blue ink is written above: 'We only part / to meet again'. A hand-written motto in black ink (in a different hand) is written on embossed flags within the lace-paper design at upper left and right: 'A Fond / Embrace'. Hand-painted leaves are added below the doves and at lower centre there is a collage of pink and green gauze clouds with a chromolithographed pink carnation and cut-paper foliage. DOBBS KIDD & [CO] is stamped at lower centre. The interior is blank.
