Description

A comic valentine on thin white wove paper, folded in half. A hand-coloured woodcut of a carpenter at work, wearing ragged trousers and with bare arms. A large tankard to the left. A printed verse below: 'With head as senseless as the bench you work at, / Without coat, trousers, or a shirt to back; / A fit companion is your pewter pot, / I would not wed with such a sot.'. P.14345-R-36 is another version of the same valentine design, mounted inside album P.14345-R.
