Description

Contained inside a sheet of folded cream laid paper with watermark: PIONEER / FINE. A valentine front of embossed, white lace-paper with a central window backed with white silk which is embroidered with pink and blue flowers with hand-painted stems and leaves and applied silk leaves. The central window has an outer border hand-drawn in pen and blue ink. A gilt-framed paper scroll is lithographed with a verse in blue ink: 'If the dawning of love / o'er thy bosom should steal / oh bid it in joy its full / presence [?reveal]'. A silver embossed paper ornament of a pair of doves sitting on a branch is affixed at lower centre.
