Description

A small, white envelope with an embossed rose on the opening flap. The envelope is empty, but would have contained a valentine for a child. A handwritten name and address in black ink on the recto: Richard Lipscombe Esqre Junr / Holywell Hill / St Albans / Herts. There are three legible postmarks on the verso: 1853 / 14 FE ; HITCHIN / FE 13 / 1853 / A; ST ALBANS / FE 15 / 1853 / A'.
