Valentine card
Publisher: Mossman, David (paper manufacturer and embosser)
A valentine front of gilt lace-paper with a central white paper panel with lithographed gilt design. At the centre is a large, embossed scrap of a winged fairy figure among forget-me-nots. The scrap is designed to be lifted up to reveal a verse or message, but the paper below is blank. A chromolithographed scrap with flowers and verse is affixed at lower centre: 'May flowers of / Love around thee be twined and / the sunshine of peace shed its joy o'er the mind'. MOSSMAN is stamped along the spine at centre left. The white lace-paper has an adhered backing of pale green tissue paper. The back paper is missing.
