Description

Beaker. Hard-paste porcelain painted in famille rose enamel palette of blue, yellow, green, rose, turquoise, iron-red, and black.
The beaker has tall, straight sides tapering into a high footrim with flat, recessed, unglazed base. It is decorated with two scholars in a rocky landscape with tree and shrubs, and two bats flying overhead.

History note: H.S. Reitlinger (d.1950); the Reitlinger Trust, Maidenhead, from which transferred in 1991.
