Description

Seated Guanyin on lotus with bird and vase. Porcelain, decorated overglaze with pink, blue, green, orange, black and white enamels in the famille rose palette and gilt. The figure sits upright, her legs are crossed on a lotus flower and leaves, with an orange bird on her right and green vase on her left. Gilt borders adorn her patterned, pink robe and her head is covered with a green shawl.

History note: H.S. Reitlinger (d.1950); the Reitlinger Trust, Maidenhead, from which transferred in 1991.
