Description

Tapered rectangular vase. Hard-paste porcelain painted in underglaze blue. The vase has a rectangular neck with galleried rim. The shouldered, rectangular body tapers towards a flared, galleried foot. The base is deep, recessed, flat, and glazed. A key-pattern border decorates the galleried rim and foot. The neck is painted on each side with panels of prunus and insects, and the shoulders and flared foot are decorated with prunus. The four tapered side panels are outlined with a key-pattern border, a depressed, undecorated section, and a central, decorated panel. The four central panels contain a wading crane and birds in a lily pond, chrysanthemum, butterfly and insects, birds and peonies, and birds seated on prunus branches.
