After the portrait by Reynolds (1787; Mannings (Reynolds), 1482, pp.383-4; English Heritage, Ranger's House - The Wernher Collection). Married Sir Uvedale Price (1747- 1829) in 1774. Half-length, standing in three-quarter profile to the left. Wears a redingcote with wide collar and large buttons with frothy cravat at the neck and powdered wig.

Mezzotint. Proof before title. Trimmed within the platemark. Engraved with artists' names on grounded inscription space; at lower left: 'Painted by Sir Joshua Reynolds' and lower right: 'Engraved by John Jones'. The publication details have apparently been trimmed off. These are described in Chaloner Smith and see impression in BM 1868,0822.2123. Inscribed on mount in pen and ink: 'Lady Caroline Carpenter, Wife of Uvedale Price Esq'. Inscribed in graphite on the verso: '37615'; Fitzwilliam Museum label bearing Clarke acquisition: 'Louis C.G. Clarke M.A. / Trinity Hall / May 1958 / P.67-1958'.
