Description

Netsuke: katabori: Fan dancer. Boxwood, carved and stained. Figure of a barefoot dancer holding a fan; his right leg is raised and a drinking gourd is tied on a string around his neck and hanging down his back. Himotoshi at the back in the folds of his robe.

History note: H.S. Reitlinger (d.1950); the Reitlinger Trust, Maidenhead, from which transferred in 1991.
