Description

Dark buff earthenware, thrown, the interior and exterior of the bowl and part of the top of the foot coated with cream slip, incised, and painted in brownish-yellow and green under thin lead-glaze. Circular with carinated sides and almost flat base, standing on a high, sloping, hollow, foot. The interior is decorated on the base with an incised circle containing four triangular motifs pointing inwards, two splashed with green and two with brownish yellow. On the sides below the rim there is a zig-zag line between two horizontal bands, dabbed alternately with green and brownish-yellow. On the exterior, there are two horizontal incised lines below the rim, and at regular intervals there are pairs of vertical incised lines and short stripes of alternate colours descending from the rim.
