Lithograph (uncoloured) on white wove paper. Inlaid within a frame of buff wove paper (approx. height 360mm x width 515mm). A procession from left to right of the Duke of Wellington, in his new role as Chancellor of Oxford University, his long train held by Hon. Mr Bagot, and followed by seven men wearing robes and caps, some with military insignia: Lord Fitzroy Somerset, Lord Hill, Sir Henry Hardinge, Lord Londonderry, unidentified, Sir Henry Fane, unidentified. The artist's initials in monogram at lower left: 'HB'. Printed below the border at lower right: 'Ducôté and Stephen's Lithogy, 70 St Martins Lane'. The title printed below across the centre: 'THE CHANCELLOR OF THE UNIVERSITY OF OXFORD ATTENDED BY DOCTORS OF _CIVIL_ LAW'. The publication details have been cut off below the title. Publisher, date and series title are given on an impression held at the BM: 1868,0808.11667; 'No. 130 and No. 351' and 'Published by Thos. Mc Lean, 26, Haymarket, Decr. 1st. 1834'. Another impression held at the BM similarly has the publisher details cut, see 1856,0510.485.
