Lithograph (uncoloured) on white wove paper. Inlaid within a frame of buff wove paper (approx. height 360mm x width 515mm). Brougham, in judge's wig and gown and holding a pistol in his right hand, stands before Lord Londonderry who holds a pistol in the air in his right hand. Brougham's seconds, standing to the left, are Lord Holland and the Duke of Richmond. Londonderry's seconds standing at the far right are Lord Aberdeen and Wellington. Signed with monogram at lower left: 'HB'. Title printed below the border: 'THE DUEL! / That did not take place.'. The publisher's details printed below: 'Published by Thos McLean, 26, Haymarket, Octr. 5th 1831.'. A small, circular blind stamp: 'THOs. MCLEAN' at lower left. Printer's details below the border at lower right: 'C. Motte's Lithogy. 70 St. Martins Lane'. Printed above the border at upper right: 'HB Sketches No 159.'.
