Lithograph (uncoloured) on white wove paper. Inlaid within a frame of buff wove paper (approx. height 360mm x width 515mm). Lord Grey stands in the foreground, his arms crossed and wearing a Greek tunic in the character of Antaeus. On the ground at his feet is written: 'REFORM'. To the right are the Duke of Wellington: 'I must have another bout with him', who is being restrained by Sir Robert Peel. To the left, a man lying on the ground in pain (Sir Charles Wetherell) is attended by two men (John Wilson Crocker and the Duke of Newcastle). Signed with monogram at lower left: 'HB'. Title printed below the border: 'THE MODERN / ANTAEUS'. The publisher's details printed below the border to the left: 'Published by Thos. McLean, 26, Haymarket, July 31st 1833.'. Printer's details below the border to the right: 'A. Ducôté's Lithogy. 70 St Martins Lane.'. Printed above the border at upper right: 'HB Sketches No 278'.
