Lithograph (uncoloured) on white wove paper. Inlaid within a frame of buff wove paper (approx. height 360mm x width 515mm). A full-length portrait in three-quarter-length profile, facing left, of Edward Ellice, who looks out at the viewer and holds his hat in his right hand. Signed with artist's monogram at lower left: 'HB'. Title printed below the border: 'SCIPIO AFRICANUS'. The publisher's details printed below the border to the left: 'Published by Thos. McLean, 26, Haymarket, August 4th, 1834.'. An eye-shaped blind stamp at lower left: 'SUBSCRIBER'S / COPY'. 'HB' is usually seen at the centre of this stamp, but the embossing is weak and so it is not visible. Printer's details below the border to the right: 'A. Ducôtés Lithog., 70, St Martins Lane'. Printed above the border at upper right: 'HB Sketches No 335'. P.14759-R, P.14760-R are other impressions.
