Description

Lithograph (uncoloured) on white wove paper. Inlaid within a frame of buff wove paper (approx. height 360mm x width 515mm). Lord Brougham as a wolf and Lord Melbourne as a lamb, face one another on opposite sides of a woodland stream. Signed with artist's monogram at lower left: 'HB'. Title printed below the border: 'THE WOLF AND THE _LAMB_.'. The publisher's details printed below the border to the left: 'Published by T. McLean, 26, Haymarket, August 11th, 1834.'. A small, circular blind stamp at lower left: 'THOs. MCLEAN'. The printer's details are not given. Printed above the border at upper right: 'HB Sketches No. 336. P.14763-R is another impression.
