Lord Brougham balances on a tightrope holding a long pole, with weights at either end labelled 'TORYISM' and 'WHIGGISM'. An orchestra playing below at the far right plays from 'music' with titles of various newspapers and is led by a man who represents _The Times_. Signed with artist's monogram at lower left: 'HB'. Title printed below the border: 'THE CELEBRATED _VAUX_ HALL PERFORMER.'. Below the title: 'ON THE TIGHT ROPE.'. The publisher's details printed below the border to the left: 'Published by Thos. McLean, 26, Haymarket, Sepr. 16th. 1834.'. Printer's details below the border to the right: 'Ducôté & Stephen's Lithography, 70, St. Martins Lane'. Printed above the border at upper right: 'HB Sketches No. 341'.
