A tinted lithograph (in two tones of yellow and white) on a large sheet of heavy, white wove paper within a narrow black border: a light bay horse, standing in profile, facing right, pawing the ground with its right foreleg, its head down and tail held erect. A background desert landscape with a monument built into rock at centre left and a river with boat on the right. A tint-block of pale yellow is applied generally, with a slightly darker yellow tone added for the background details. Distant mountains are indicated by this darker yellow tint block alone. A small amount of white tint is added to the lower part of the horse's right hind leg and just above the hoof on its left hind leg. The title, presumably the name of the horse, followed by a description of its colouration, is given in German and French in the margin below the image at lower centre: 'TAYAR. / Hellbraun. \ Bai clair. [light brown]'. The artist's details below the image at lower left: 'Nach d. Leben gez. v. Rud. Kuntz.'. The printmaker's details below the image at lower right: 'Lithogr.v.L.Ekeman Alleson'. The publisher's stamp, a small lozenge-shaped blind stamp above the title at lower centre: 'EBNER'. Watermark: 'H. OSER. IN. BASEL'.
