Description

Stipple and etching on chine collé. A small oval medallion containing the head and shoulders of a lady, c.1750, directed towards the left with head turned towards the viewer. A plait is worn across the top right of her wig. Proof before letters. A handwritten graphite inscription on the verso: 'From a plate in the possession of Mr Mackie'. 'Mackie' was a dealer, probably a bookseller, who sold prints to the British Museum, amongst other places.
