Description

Linen (loosely woven)embroided with polychrome silks (very faded) in cross, eye, and Algerian eye stitch.
20.25cm x 26.5cm
8" x 10 3/8"

Narrow repeat geometric framing border enclosing an upper case border, numerals 1-8, and A-F in large decorative lettering.
It is inscribed "Ann Holland marked/this in the eleventh/ year of her age 1796" and "Year of our Lord 1797/The Lord Bless Ama"
Each band of lettering and inscription is separated by a narrow geometric repeat pattern band.
The final band contains a row of detached motifs, stylised trees.
