Description

Unbleached linen embroidered with polychrome silks (very faded) in cross stitch.
25.5cm x 30.75cm
10" x 12 1/8"

Narrow framing border, four bands of geometric repeat patterns at the top, followed by bands containing an upper case alphabet, numerals 1-11, lower case alphabet and a sinuous repeat pattern.

The lower half of the sampler has a central rectagle containing the inscription "Sarah Locket/Aged 10/1807" and a small tree and pattern motif. The rectangle is surrounded traditional detached motifs, lions, flower basket, birds, sprigs etc
