A couple embracing in a loft. They are discovered by two people who are entering by means of a ladder.


History note: Eugène de Wassermann, Brussels; bt. Hermann Metter, 1920s; sold (Sotheby’s) 20-21 April 1959, lot 70, from a ‘portfolio’ of 31 proof impressions; bt. ‘Warren’ for £680; 24 of which purchased by the Fitzwilliam for £300.
