History note: Signature of John Holland (Herald Painter?), see signature (f.1); the index is in his handwriting. An armorial bookplate was designed by Hogarth for John Holland, Herald Painter. Owned by Thomas I. Ford, Hill Crest, Westwood Park, Forest Hill, 3 May 1907. See slip pasted to first flyleaf. Owned by Ralph Griffin, F.S.A., and given by him in October 1930.
