History note: Mary de Bohun (d. 1394) and/or her husband, Henry of Bolingbroke, probably commissioned for their marriage in 1380; John Stafford (d. 1452), Lord Chancellor and Archbishop of Canterbury (1443-1452), his arms added (fol. 1r); Henry VI or his wife, Margaret of Anjou, married 1445, their impaled arms added (fol. 1r); Barnaby [or Burneby] family, fifteenth-century obits added to the Calendar; Walton family, sixteenth and seventeenth-century obits added to the Calendar; Emma Lady Stafford, purchased for her by Henry Valentine Stafford-Jerningham, 9th Baron Stafford (d.1884); purchased from Lady Chichele-Plowden, step-daughter of Emma Lady Stafford, by Henry Yates Thompson (1838-1928) in 1907; his sale, Sotheby’s, London, 23 March 1920, lot 40; purchased by Thomas H. Riches (1865-1935); his bequest, 1935, received by the Museum in 1950.
