Description

Maki-e tray, by Koyanagi Tanekuni, decorated with the Famous Eight Views. The natural grain of the pine wood is left visible on this tray. The theme originates from the Chinese painting tradition of ‘Eight Views of Xiao and Xiang’ which depicted the scenic spots near the Xiao and Xiang Rivers.
