Description

Maki-e box ‘fern’, by Koyanagi Tanekuni, the flowing pattern of fern leaves covers the exterior of the box, and the images of young leaves are depicted in the interior. The reddish black colour of this box is achieved by the use of urumi lacquer, which is a mixture of cinnabar and black lacquer.
