After the portrait by Charpentier of the French tragic actress known as 'Mademoiselle Rachel'. Three-quarter-length to the right, looking towards the viewer and slightly to the left. Wearing a dark, velvet dress with a full skirt and lace collar pinned with an ornate brooch. Her hands are clasped in front of her and her dark hair is tied back and parted at the centre. She wears dropper earrings which match the brooch worn on her collar. A classical pilaster and dado moulding are seen in the background.

Title in scrolling italics: 'Mlle Rachel / Sociétaire du Thèatre Français'. Publication details below: 'PARIS. publié par RITTNER & GOUPIL. 15. Boulevart [sic.] Montmartre'. Printers details at lower right: 'Imp.é ['Imprimé'] par Chardon et Giraudet'. Described by Béraldi as one of the best plates executed by Sixdeniers ['Une des meilleures planches de Sixdeniers']. Goupil blindstamp at lower centre.
