Description

Seven variations on a tune for harpsichord.
Caption tile.
Same piece occurs later with slight alterations and and an eighth varation ascribed to John Mundy (see no. 42, p. 78). Thurston Dart thought that only the 8th variation was by Mundy.
Manuscript copyist (possibly Francis Tregian) in ink.
Editions: see the 'Fitzwilliam virginal book,' revised Dover edition, 1980, 1:42, and 'Keyboard music from Fitzwilliam manuscripts' (MB 102 no. 63), and (without variation 8) 'Keyboard works / Thomas Morley' ed. Thurston Dart (1959), (no. 13).
