Description

France, Louis IX (1226-70), AR gros tournois, 1266-70 (Lafaurie 198), traces of mount on reverse and gilding on obverse, 3.93g. The gros tournois, and the contemporary English groat of Edward I (1272-1307) were often mounted for use as brooches in the late 13th century or 14th century.
