For the most part, the songs are taken from the various folio volumes of Thomson's 'A selection collection of original Scottish/Welsh/Irish airs'.

Engraved music interleaved with letterpress song texts with duplicate numbering (p. 1-50); actually there are 62 (2, 11, 12, 15, 22, 27 32, 39-41, 44, 49 are used twice) pages of engraved music and 36 ([1-2], 11, 12, 15, 22, 27, 32, 39-41, 44 omitted) pages of printed text (the text verses are included on the engraved music plates).
