A miscellany of manuscripts from different periods originally bound together. Rebound by Ralph Griffin. See "An account of two volumes of manuscript anthems once in the Barrett Collection / by Ralph Griffin, F.S.A." (Privately printed, 1929)
Leaves 38-97 are blank, representing sections in the hands of Croft, Weldon, which have been removed and are now in the Bodleian (MS.Don.C.19 & 20) and the British Library (MS.Add.????), another section of three anthems by John Blow, originally between f. 3 and 4, is now MU.MS.240.

History note: Presented by Ralph Griffin, February 1930; one of two volumes, acquired at the sale of W.A. Barrett's musical books at Hodgson's on Friday, June 26th 1925, lot no. 416. Earlier owners: "Jos. Corfe", "Dr. S. Arnold, 23d June 1796", "Wm. Alex.r Barrett, 1876" Original binding: half brown calf, purple brown pinhead cloth sides. Rebound in half brown morocco, marbled paper sides, vellum tips by the Cockerell bindery, July 1980. Preservation note, and samples of original binding at back.
