Note

See letter dated 13th February, 1981 from Simon Cottle, A.K. Applied Art, Laing Art Gallery, Newcastle Upon Tyne to JEP, no such objects there. Suggested pickle dishes or pickle bowls. This seems just as unlikely as individual finger bowls.

The donor thought that these objects were individual finger bowls, and that there were some at Newcastle Museum.
