Description

Pot and lid. Pale cream earthenware, the lid decorated with a multi-colour underglaze transfer print with black key plate; the pot marbled in green enamel. The glaze is tinted very slightly greyish-blue, and does not cover a small area at 7 o'clock on the top of the lid. The shallow cylindrical pot splays out slightly towards the base, and has a ledge below the rim to support the lid. The base is recessed and has an impressed circle in the centre. The lid is slightly convex. The top is decorated with a view of Strasburg, inscribed 'Strasburg' below; border Fig. VIII, and an outer green marbled border.
