Coverboards covered with white linen. Off-white paper. Collocation: four gatherings, containing the following number of leaves: seven (one attached to front cover); seven (one torn out and partially cut, one cut and one missing); eight; eight (one attached to back cover). Blank: 9(verso). Animal and figure studies, also workings for ?bookplates.

Note

This sketchbook, used while G.R. was at the Slade, contains preliminary sketches for the following wood engravings: ?'The Expulsion' 1910/11; 'The Murderer' ?1910/11; 'The Dead Knight' 1910; 'Sir Thomas Browne' 1910; 'Margaret's Ghost' 1910; 'The Brown Girl' 1910; 'Anthony and Cleopatra' 1910; 'May Morning' 1910. There are studies of pigs and lambs: pages 1-6(recto) alsp page 19(verso). There are bookplate studies for Dorothy Lamb, Philip Jourdan and Corbie Crow on pages 13-16, also possibly on the missing page parts previous to them. Page 22 and 23 (recto both) have ?bookplate studies related to 'the Philospher and Death'. There is a portrait study identified as Fanny/Leitita Favres?
