Description

Clear glass, covered with canvas and beadwork in blue, green, yellow, red, clear and black beads; stopper of cork, the top covered in similar beadwork. The bottle is oval in plan, with straight sides, curved shoulders, and cylindrical neck with projecting rim. The top of the cover is domed. The bottom of the bottle is decorated with a narrow oblong outlined in green, red, and yellow beads with clear beads forming the background. Both sides are decorated with a large crown, with two rampant lions flanking a stylised tree, and three blue pyramids below, with geometrical and stylised floral bands above and below. The shoulder and neck are decorated with similar bands, all with a background of clear beads. Round the bottle are two horizontal bands and two vertical bands which continue into a carrying strap, all of canvas worked on one side with beadwork: stylised floral motifs on the horizontal bands and a zig-zag design on the vertical bands and carrying strap. The stopper is decorated with stylised floral motifs and a yellow bead fringe. Attached to the top is a cylindrical 'rope' decorated with a spiral black line of beads, and flower heads.
