Vase, bone china, the body aerographed in olive green and decorated in sgrafitto with five large feathery spirals, each spiral finished on one side of the feather in black. Neck white, edged in black where it joins the shoulder. Underside flat and clear glazed within a narrow foot-rim.
History note: Formerly in the collection of Susie Cooper; bequeathed to her son, Timothy Barker, who gave it to the Museum.

This rare feather design, here on a typical 1950s shape, seems to have been a precursor to Susie Cooper’s better known 1960s designs such as ‘Assyrian’ and ‘Venetian’.
