Translated selections from the Persian work: Tārīkh-i Firishtah.
Continued by an original work by Dow: The history of Hindostan, from the death of Akbar, to the complete settlement of the empire under Aurungzebe. London : Printed for T. Becket and P.A. De Hondt, 1772 (ESTC T91569).
Frontispieces, consisting of portraits of "Shan Allum, the present emperor of Hindostan" and "Mahommed Akbar, emperor of Hindostan, died A.D. 1604", engraved by Isaac Taylor. The plate "A specimen of the measure of the Bedas" and "A general map of Hindostan with the adjacent countries" are unsigned.
Binding: sprinkled calf; spine & board edges g.t., raised bands, g. lettering on red & black spine labels.
