Description

Hard paste porcelain, painted in red, green and black enamels. Circular with flat base, low, gently sloping sides flaring out towards the rim with a sharp angle outside and fairly sharp junction inside, resting on a low tapering foot with a flat glazed base. The centre is decorated with a boldly painted rising phoenix amongst cloud scrolls and flower heads in green and red enamels outlined in black within a double line circle. The rim has a crudely painted chequered border enclosing crosses in iron-red. The outside is decorated with two lozenge and ribbon motifs and two cross motifs with red ribbons. Sanding to the outer sides and foot.
