Potter: Lloyd, William
Cullender. Red-brown earthenware, pierced, coated internally with cream slip, and decorated with brown and cream slips and green under clear lead-type glaze. Circular, with deep curved sides pierced by five groups of nine holes, and two holes for suspension near the rim, and two arched handles with scrolled ends on opposing sides, standing on a projecting footring. The interior is decorated underglaze with five thinly applied green rectangles over the groups of holes which are dabbed or encircled with brown. The handles are brown, and the rim is decorated all round with alternate dabs of green and brown. The outside is decorated underglaze with crossing curved lines of cream slip, horizontal and vertical strokes of brown slip (?) .The underside of the footring is undecorated.
History note: Purchased by the donor at the Chelsea Craft Fair, 15th October 1998
