Description

Frtiware painted in polychrome under a colourless glaze

Fritware, probably mould made, painted in blue, black and turquoise under a crazed colourless glaze
Shape: hexagonal tile with straight edges
Upper surface: around the edges the remnants of a black and turquoise border is evident. A central rosette and five smaller surrounding smaller rosettes are painted against a wave background, all in blue.
Lower surface: undecorated except for remnants of plaster and one splash of glaze from the kiln.

History note: H.S. Reitlinger (d.1950); the Reitlinger Trust, Maidenhead, from which transferred in 1991.
