  • Text: The following 31 original hand coloured drawings of Camelliae were / painted by Alfred Chandler. Those numbered 1 to 40 appeared in the / book entitled "Illustrations and Descriptions of the Plants which / Compose the Natural Order Camelieae" by Alfred Chandler and W.B. / Booth, published in 1831. The following three drawings, were intended / for the second volume which was to have been publsiedh in 1837. This / second volume was never proceeded with. / The drawings, previous to coming into my possession, were owned by / Mr . C.A.K. Irwin of Henley-on-Thames, who states that Alfred Chandler / was his maternal grandfather, and they have remainted in the possession / of his family since Chandler's death. / ? King
