Emperor Napeoleon III, wearing uncoloured military uniform and hat, and black boots, sits astride his horse, right arm raised to his head in salute. His horse raises its front left leg. The base displays the word 'EMPEROR', moulded and picked out in gilt. The underside is concave and glazed. The back is flat and undecorated, with a vent hole towards the base (A). Empress Eugenie, wearing a long riding habit and large hat with feathers, sitting side saddle on her horse, her right arm not visible, her left hand in her lap. The base displays the word 'EMPRESS', moulded and picked out in gilt. The underside is concave and glazed. The back is flat and undecorated, with a vent hole towards the base (B).
