Vols. III and IV are of the third edition: "The third edition of Vols.III and IV was published with the sixth edition of Vols.I and II in May, 1742" (Sale).
Published anonymously. By Samuel Richardson.
With one final leaf of advertisements in both volumes 1 & 5.
With one plate of a portrait of Richardson mounted on front free e.p. with Fitzwilliam's note: 'died of apoplexy, 4th July 1761, aged 72 years old.'.
Binding: sprinkled calf, g. rolled border; spine & board edges g.t., border g.t. on inside covers, raised bands, g. lettering on red spine labels; marbled e.p.; a.e. green.
