Carved Bath stone, on grey marble base engraved with an arrow. The nude St Sebastian stands with his arms over his head awaiting martyrdom; his legs are cut off at mid-thigh.

Between August 1924 and October 1928 Gill and his family lived at Capel-y-ffin, near Abergavenny, where this work was probably carved. However, between February-April 1927 Gill stayed at Salies-de-BĂ©arn in France, and in the autumn he produced some scultpure in Oliver Lodge's studio flat at 50a Glebe Place, Chelsea.
