The Entombment of Christ

Sculptor: Gagini, Domenico (Attributed to)

Marble stiacciato relief. Rectangular. The dead Christ is supported by a women standing behind him, and a kneeling woman on the right holds his feet. His head is dropping forwards onto his chest and his right arm hangs down at his side. Behind the kneeling woman there is an older woman who bends forward towards two seated figures, whose faces are partly obliterated. There are less clearly defined figures looking towards the group from the top right and top left of the relief.
