St Anne Teaching the Virgin to Read

Figure group, alabaster carved in the round. St Anne, three-quarter length and wearing a wimple, has her left arm around the shoulder of the young and small half-length Virgin, who wears a crown. St Anne points with the first finger of her hand to a page of a book in front of her. The Virgin holds a stilus in her right hand which rests on the book.
