Description

Diptych with donor and donatrix. Left wing (A): under a triple cusped and crocketted arch the Virgin and the Child at her breast stands between St Catherine on the right carrying a palm and a wheel and St Margaret on the left rising out of a dragon and holding a cross. Below on the left, in a kind of predella, kneels the donor in prayer, and to the right of the figure are two quatrefoils contained in roundels.
Right wing (B): Under an identical arch is the Deposition with four assisting figures. Below in a kind of predella kneels the donatrix in prayer, and to the left of the figure are two quatrefoils contained in roundels.

Notes

History note: The Curé of the Diocese of Versailles left it to a convent in Versailles. Bought from the latter by Durlacher, who sold it to the Rt. Hon. F. Leverton Harris.
