Description

Figure, carved in the round, from a provincial workshop. The Virgin, crowned, with her hair hanging in seven ringlets to her waist, holds the Child, completely naked, with both hands. The Child's right arm is raised, the left arm is broken. The Child is frontalised with the left leg crossed under the right. The Virgin stands on an ivory base, her drapery falling in un-Gothic 'S' folds.
